Giclee Printing and the environment

We care about the environment so we strive to keep wastage to a minimum, recycle what we can and avoid products that are bad for you or the environment.

Fortunately at least one of the better papers we use is made from cotton lint, a by product of the clothing industry that would otherwise go to the landfill. Still we hate to see clear cut forest like the photographs here of Tillamook. It is a real tragedy and makes us think twice every time we pick up a sheet or a roll of paper. Our promise to ourselves is to waste as little as we can, to make every sheet count.

Technology is on our side with some of this and digital technologies do much to reduce consumption of resources. Inkjet inks aren't too eco-friendly either but far less of them is washed down the drain and into the water supply than with traditional commercial printing. This is why we embrace 'Print on demand'. The process itself consumes far less than offset printing because you only print what you need. When you make cards, decals or small items with us rather than traditional offset you will need far less of them to be made for it to be cost effective and this alone has an impact on the supply of trees and water.

At skink Ink we recycle ink cartridges, electronics and all our consumables. We strive constantly to find better ways to make less of an impact on the planet while compromising as little as we can on the quality and longevity of the prints.
