There is a huge variety of paper, vinyl, canvas and banner materials available for giclee printing. One of our personal favorites is Tyvek, a spun nylon material that is tough and versatile, resistent to weather and wear it can be used for outdoor signage and overhead banners.
We can make foamcore mounted cutouts—as here for Molly Crabapple's launch of 'Dirtee Hollywood'. We can produce digital wall paper that can be used for fly posting artworks like artist Shephard Fairey or to display huge works in a temporary setting. Water resistent and affixed to a surface with simple wheat paste or wall paper glue it has hundreds of creative possibilities. Despite our love of all the new possibilities we choose to use only high quality and archivable materials that artists would be comfortable with.
We print giclees on canvas and currently we have canvas in stock by Epson and Hahnemühle. We stretch on Jack Richardson stretcher bars and mount giclees on to a variety of boards from Sintra and Gator to museum board and acid free foamcore using cold lamintors and archival sheet adhesives supplied by Talas.
We can varnish canvas giclees with Golden Acrylic UVLS Varnish which protects the surface from minor damage, water and UV. We avoid many of the novel coatings and untried products available to the nascent giclee printing industry. Preferring time-honored and artist driven concerns for quality, safety and longevity that are integral to the products of companies like Golden.
