File Setup for Giclee Printing

Please supply files in the following formats and resolutions

These principals apply to all files

• Color space: RGB preferred—We can print CMYK easily but RGB has a much wider range of available colors
• Color Profile: 'Adobe RGB (1998)' is preferred—'sRGB' will work too.
  If in doubt dont change the profile leave it to us
• Convert all text to outlines or rasterize text
• Currently we use Adobe CS3 level programs on OSX. If you are CS4/CS5 or on a PC, or using programs other then listed here please use PDF format

Adobe Photoshop

• Resolution: 300dpi for images up to 36" x 36", 150 dpi for anything above
• Flatten layers and rasterize text
• You may use any of the compression options in Photoshop to reduce file size LZW, ZIP etc. (but NOT JPEG see below)
• File type: TIFF preferred—PSD, JPEG and RAW are acceptable in most circumstances (see below)
  1. PSD CS4 and above please use PDF
  2. JPEG please do NOT allow the file to be compressed as it seriously damages the quality of the information
  3. RAW please consult on camera make and model

Adobe Illustrator and InDesign

• Include all external support files such as images and artwork when you send the file.
• If setting up a new file do so in RGB if it is already CMYK dont convert it.
• Convert text to outlines

Adobe Acrobat PDF


• Use the Acrobat preset 'High Quality Print'
• you may need to modify it if you wish to add a bleed or crop marks.
